A court profile: rounded on the outside and rounded on the inside. The inner curve is the part that matters — a flat-edged band presses at the corners, a court band does not, which is why it is still the most worn wedding ring shape.

4 mm wide, in a substantial weight. Finished with a soft polish rather than a mirror, so everyday marks read as patina instead of scratches.

The metal. Platinum 950 or 18k gold, solid throughout. Platinum does not need re-plating; it develops a matte sheen with wear that can be polished back at any time.

Wearing it. A wide band sits tighter than a narrow one at the same nominal size. If you are between sizes, take the larger.
