Swansea sits within the Abertawe - Swansea unitary authority, and its round runs from SA1 and SA2 through SA5, SA6 and SA7, with the SA80 code besides; Landore, Cwmbwrla, Cockett, Bôn-y-maen, Llansamlet, Llangyfelach, Clydach, Gowerton, Dunvant and Killay, Fairwood and Gower fall inside it. Semi-detached housing leads on 34.5%, terraces follow at 25.4% and detached at 24.0%, with 62.3% of households owning. Hillside terraces of that vintage were frequently built without a membrane under the lowest floor, so a damp-proof layer and a self-levelling screed tend to come before any decision about the covering itself. The hallway and the living room above all: the pattern reads best along a length. In a kitchen the rigid-vinyl herringbone is the version to use, because it is listed as waterproof and the oak blocks are not.
A glued pattern floor takes longer to lay than a floating plank and uses more material, 15 to 20 percent waste against 8 to 12. The cost guide linked below cites the published fitting figures rather than guessing them.
The engineered Oxford blocks and the rigid-vinyl herringbone are both listed for underfloor heating. The screed has to be dry and the system commissioned before either goes down.
