Ashton, Deepdale, Cadley and the City Centre ward sit inside the districts served from here, alongside Bamber Bridge East and West, Farington East and West, Broad Oak and Charnock; the postal spread runs PR0, PR1, PR2, PR5 and PR11. Terraces account for 29.2% of homes and semi-detached houses for 34.2%, so most jobs land in a house rather than above one. A terraced ground floor is often suspended timber, which flexes, hollows along the joist lines and creaks where boards were lifted for pipework.
