Canterbury in the 2021 census: 63,793 households, 80% houses, 19% flats.

More than a fifth of households rent privately, 22.0% in 2021 against 19.5% ten years earlier, and that is the sharpest shift in the local tenure profile; owner occupation has eased to 64.8%.
