For the same pattern in a kitchen, the herringbone rigid-vinyl range is the click alternative; there is no chevron in vinyl in the range.

Windsor and Maidenhead is a unitary authority, so the census figures quoted here describe the whole borough rather than the town alone: 30.7% detached, 26.1% semi-detached and 24.2% flats. Detached properties usually mean long uninterrupted runs from room to room, and long runs need a proper perimeter gap and a break at the doorway, or a floating floor will push against skirtings as it moves with the seasons. The flat share matters for a different reason, since anything laid over a neighbour's ceiling has to satisfy the lease on impact sound before the finish is even chosen. Deliveries reach SL3 and SL4, taking in Eton & Castle, Clewer East, Clewer & Dedworth West, Datchet, Horton & Wraysbury, and Bray.
Roughly three in ten Windsor homes are detached, a quarter semi-detached and one in five a purpose-built flat. What the figures do not show is the river. Datchet, Horton and Wraysbury sit low against the Thames, and that changes the first question asked about a ground floor there.

Herringbone is the traditional zig-zag and forgives a squarer room; chevron is the continuous arrow and wants a room with length. Chevron blocks are mitred, so the setting-out is less forgiving and the border matters more. The comparison guide takes it further.

The oak chevron is for dry rooms. For a patterned floor in a kitchen the rigid-vinyl herringbone, listed as waterproof, is the range to look at; there is no vinyl chevron in the range.
