It sits in North Northamptonshire, a unitary authority created in 2021. Ownership across the authority was 65.0% at the 2021 census, down 3.1 points, with private renting up 4.3 points to 18.4%. Corby's own housing story is distinctive: it was designated a new town in 1950 to house steelworkers, and most of what was built then and since sits on a concrete ground floor rather than joists.
