Across Cheshire West and Chester, flats make up only 11.9% of dwellings, semi-detached property 36.3%, and owner occupation 68.3%. Most work is therefore owner-led and whole-floor, in houses rather than tenanted rooms in blocks. Central terraces and converted upper storeys are the exception. Rigid vinyl listed as waterproof, in the plank or the click-tile format, or a matt porcelain tile. Both cope with a leak and a wet mop; the vinyl floats over an old slab, the tile needs it levelled. The base has to be dry under either.
