For the same pattern in a kitchen, the herringbone rigid-vinyl range is the click alternative; there is no chevron in vinyl in the range.

CH1 and CH2 carry the bulk of Chester deliveries, alongside the CH70, CH88 and CH99 codes, and between them cover Blacon, Newton & Hoole, Upton, Saughall & Mollington, Christleton & Huntington, Sandstone, Gowy Rural and Chester City & the Garden Quarter. Across Cheshire West and Chester, flats make up only 11.9% of dwellings, semi-detached property 36.3%, and owner occupation 68.3%. Most work is therefore owner-led and whole-floor, in houses rather than tenanted rooms in blocks. Central terraces and converted upper storeys are the exception. Elsewhere the pattern is solid concrete downstairs in post-war stock and suspended timber in anything older, which is worth establishing early because it decides how much levelling compound the quote has to carry.
Owner-occupiers hold close to seven Chester homes in ten, and detached and semi-detached houses together make up two thirds of the stock, from Blacon and Upton out to Christleton, Huntington and the Gowy villages. Owned family houses in this part of Cheshire also tend to contain dogs.
A dog changes the specification more than most people expect. Claws mark a soft surface layer within weeks, the marks are fine, numerous and impossible to spot-repair, and water from a bowl or from wet fur sits in the same places every day.

Herringbone is the traditional zig-zag and forgives a squarer room; chevron is the continuous arrow and wants a room with length. Chevron blocks are mitred, so the setting-out is less forgiving and the border matters more. The comparison guide takes it further.
Both Knightsbridge Chevron boards are engineered, 14 mm thick, and listed for underfloor heating, on a screed that is dry and a system that has been commissioned first.
The oak chevron is for dry rooms. For a patterned floor in a kitchen the rigid-vinyl herringbone, listed as waterproof, is the range to look at; there is no vinyl chevron in the range.
It suits a Chester townhouse, with two provisos. The labour is a larger share of the cost than in a plank floor, and the block size has to answer the room — small blocks in a small room read busy. With a dog in the house, choose the harder surface layer.
