The Knightsbridge Chevron comes in two faces, Knightsbridge Chevron Natural Brushed Oak and Knightsbridge Chevron Raw Oak, both 14 x 90 x 510 mm, tongue and groove, engineered, with a 3 mm wear layer and listed for underfloor heating. For the same pattern in a kitchen, the herringbone rigid-vinyl range is the click alternative; there is no chevron in vinyl in the range.

23.0% of Manchester's homes were built before 1919 and 44.7% before 1945, and flats now make up 39.7% of the stock against 33.7% terraces. That split is the whole decision. In the Victorian terraces of Chorlton, Levenshulme and Rusholme you are almost always laying over suspended timber that needs levelling first. In the city-centre and Ancoats flats you are laying over concrete with a lease that specifies impact sound insulation. In the new-build phases at Victoria North and Collyhurst you are laying over screed, usually with underfloor heating, and that is where engineered wood earns its place over solid: solid timber moves too much over a heat source.
Manchester puts three households in ten into a purpose-built flat and three in ten more into a terrace, with ownership below two in five — lower than any other English core city in this list. Much of the terraced belt at Levenshulme, Longsight and Moss Side has had its two front rooms opened into one.
That knock-through leaves a line where the wall stood, and the floor has to cross it. On either side the joists often run in different directions and sit at slightly different heights, and a new floor laid straight over the join telegraphs it within a year.

Herringbone is the traditional zig-zag and forgives a squarer room; chevron is the continuous arrow and wants a room with length. Chevron blocks are mitred, so the setting-out is less forgiving and the border matters more. The comparison guide takes it further.
Both Knightsbridge Chevron boards are engineered, 14 mm thick, and listed for underfloor heating, on a screed that is dry and a system that has been commissioned first.
The oak chevron is for dry rooms. For a patterned floor in a kitchen the rigid-vinyl herringbone, listed as waterproof, is the range to look at; there is no vinyl chevron in the range.
