The Knightsbridge Chevron comes in two faces, Knightsbridge Chevron Natural Brushed Oak and Knightsbridge Chevron Raw Oak, both 14 x 90 x 510 mm, tongue and groove, engineered, with a 3 mm wear layer and listed for underfloor heating. For the same pattern in a kitchen, the herringbone rigid-vinyl range is the click alternative; there is no chevron in vinyl in the range.

Swindon is a unitary authority, and its seven districts — SN1 to SN5 plus SN25 and SN38 — take in Old Town, Haydon Wick, Gorse Hill and Pinehurst, Covingham and Dorcan, and Blunsdon and Highworth. Ownership sits at 63.7%, close to the national picture; the sharper movement is in private renting, up from 16.0% in 2011 to 19.3% in 2021. Built form is split fairly evenly between semi-detached at 30.7% and terraced at 29.0%, both of which usually mean a party wall and, on many upper storeys, timber joists. That combination argues for checking deflection and levelling the base before boards go down, and for a resilient layer wherever a rented home sits above another dwelling.
Swindon holds two towns in one set of figures: the railway terraces around Gorse Hill and Central, and the estates built out west at Lydiard, Freshbrook and Haydon Wick. Terraces and semi-detached houses run close to each other in share, and the two ask for quite different preparation.
The railway terraces around the works sit on suspended timber; the western estates at Freshbrook, Toothill and Shaw sit on a slab with screed over it. The two need opposite preparation, and the address usually tells you which you have.

Herringbone is the traditional zig-zag and forgives a squarer room; chevron is the continuous arrow and wants a room with length. Chevron blocks are mitred, so the setting-out is less forgiving and the border matters more. The comparison guide takes it further.

The oak chevron is for dry rooms. For a patterned floor in a kitchen the rigid-vinyl herringbone, listed as waterproof, is the range to look at; there is no vinyl chevron in the range.
