The living room is the dry room that is seen most, which is why it is where the engineered oak and the parquet in the range go; the choice is width, finish and pattern rather than material. In Tamworth 87% of homes are houses, most of them semi-detached houses (39%), so the questions are the subfloor and the underlay rather than impact sound.
Living Room in Tamworth
The Tamworth district counts 32,895 households in the 2021 census, and the mix of houses and flats in that count is what decides how a living room floor is specified here.
Semi-detached houses are 39% of the Tamworth stock, and the semi's living room in Tamworth is often knocked through from the bay to the garden. A long room takes a longer board and, laid towards the light, reads longer still; the 150 mm Cobham range or a herringbone set out from the centre suits it. Where the room crosses from timber onto the concrete of an extension, the two are levelled to each other first.
Owner-occupation is 68% in Tamworth, and the living room is the room an owner-occupier in Tamworth spends on: engineered oak with a 3 mm or thicker wear layer, or a herringbone, laid once and refinished when the time comes. The finish decides the care, oil patched by the room, lacquer recoated across it.

Tamworth in the 2021 census: 32,895 households, 87% houses, 13% flats.
Tamworth is B77, B78 and B79 — Castle, Bolehall, Belgrave, Amington, Dordon, and out to Baddesley and Grendon. It is a district of Staffordshire, and like Redditch it shares the B postcode with Birmingham while belonging to a different county entirely. Ownership was 67.0% at the 2021 census with social renting at 18.0%. Tamworth expanded substantially under a town development agreement from the 1960s, taking overspill population from Birmingham, so much of the housing is of that period and sits on a concrete ground floor. The medieval core around the castle is the exception. Which side of that divide your property falls on decides whether you are checking a membrane or levelling boards.
Houses take close to nine in ten of the stock across B77, B78 and B79, so a floor going into Bolehall or Wilnecote answers to the building and to the household, and to nothing else. No ceiling below it, no lease clause above it, no acoustic layer somebody else has specified.
Heating finds the difference between the two Tamworths. Concrete warms slowly and lets go slowly, holding an even temperature through the day; the boarded floors of the old town by the castle follow the room instead, warm by evening and cold again by morning.
Delivery times and options depend on the delivery postcode. See Delivery & Returns for the applicable estimate.

Engineered oak in the width the room can carry is the floor most living rooms in Tamworth end up with: it looks like the solid timber it is on top, takes underfloor heating and can be sanded. A herringbone suits a room with length, laminate suits a budget, and rigid vinyl suits a living room that opens onto the kitchen.
Wide boards calm a large room and dominate a small one; narrow boards suit a terraced front room. The range runs from 90 mm solid boards to 220 mm engineered planks, and the plank-width guide linked below weighs it up.
The rigid-vinyl range can run through both, because it is listed as waterproof. An oak floor stops at the kitchen door or accepts the risk of a leak; many Tamworth homes run the oak to the threshold and the vinyl beyond it in a matching tone.
Yes, Tamworth in full: B77, B78 and B79, from Glascote and Amington through Bolehall and Belgrave to Castle, and out to Fazeley, Dordon and the Mease Valley. Most drops go to a house someone is living in, so a hallway to stack in is enough.
Yes. We deliver across Tamworth and Staffordshire from our UK warehouse, including the B77, B78 and B79 postcode districts. Delivery cost and timing depend on the delivery postcode and are shown at checkout, and samples come by post first so the floor can be seen in the room before the full order.
Yes: cut samples are £1.99 each, up to two per product, posted to your Tamworth address. Two or three side by side on the floor, in the room's own light morning and evening, settle the colour faster than any photograph.
