Northampton splits almost evenly between detached and semi-detached houses, with terraces from the boot and shoe trade concentrated around Abington, Phippsville, Far Cotton and Castle. The engineered oak, the parquet, the laminate, the rigid vinyl and the porcelain tiles are all listed as compatible. The solid oak boards are not. The commissioning cycle and the screed reading come before any of them.
Yes, engineered oak: every board in the range is listed for it. Trade guidance sets no blanket ban on wood over heating but ties it to the temperature limit, which the system's controls hold.
It is half of the thermal resistance. Floor and underlay together stay within 0.15 m²K/W; an underlay rated for heating is thin for that reason, and its tog value divided by ten gives the figure to add.
In a new house there is usually a floor down already, and the first decision is whether to lift it or lay over it. Laying over saves the removal but raises the finished level; lifting it lets you see the slab and test it. Decide that before choosing a range.
