West Northamptonshire is a unitary authority, and its 2021 return puts 86.4% of dwellings in house form: 31.7% detached, 31.6% semi-detached and 23.1% terraced, leaving flats at 13.2%. Most work therefore involves a staircase, two storeys of continuous covering and a hallway carrying the whole household, so wear rating and a consistent run of colour between rooms matter more than acoustic layers do.
