Why herringbone wood

Why Choose Herringbone Wood Flooring?

Herringbone wood flooring is one of the most sought-after premium styles in UK interiors. Its interlocking diagonal pattern adds real depth and sophistication to hallways, living rooms, bedrooms and open-plan spaces. It is a floor that genuinely makes a room.

High-end visual impact

The diagonal pattern adds movement, depth and a clearly premium finish that standard plank floors simply cannot replicate.

Real wood character

Natural oak grain combined with timeless parquet geometry — a look that never dates.

Works in any room size

Smaller plank formats (90mm) suit compact hallways; wider boards make open-plan spaces feel expansive.

Timeless and design-led together

At home in period properties and contemporary new builds alike.

“The herringbone flooring completely changed our hallway. Everyone who visits notices it immediately — it just looks incredible.”

Herringbone Wood FAQ

Herringbone Wood: your questions answered

The questions UK buyers ask most before choosing an herringbone wood floor.

Is herringbone flooring harder to install than plank flooring?
Herringbone requires more precision during fitting because of the angled, interlocking pattern. It is best installed by an experienced floor fitter. The extra care in laying produces a noticeably superior result compared to standard plank formats.
Does herringbone parquet work in small rooms?
Yes — herringbone can make smaller rooms feel more dynamic and considered. Choose plank formats around 70–90mm wide for compact spaces. Wider boards (120mm+) suit larger open-plan areas and rooms with long sightlines.
Can herringbone wood flooring be used with underfloor heating?
Engineered herringbone is generally suitable for underfloor heating systems. Solid wood herringbone is not usually recommended due to greater moisture sensitivity. Always confirm compatibility with the specific product data sheet before installation.
Can I order herringbone flooring samples before buying?
Yes. Sample ordering is available from any product page on our site — the best way to check the tone, grain and texture in your own lighting before committing to your order.
