Product details

Victorian Antique Dark Oak is one of the two thickest boards in the range: engineered European oak, 20 mm thick, 190 mm wide and 1900 mm long, with a 6 mm oak wear layer, Antique Effect grade, deep brushed and finished with hard wax oil.

Read the full description

The dark colour is aged in rather than stained on, and the extra thickness gives the board the feel of a solid floor underfoot.

The 6 mm wear layer is the reason to choose this board over the 14 mm antique boards in the same colour: it is the depth available for sanding and re-oiling over decades, and it comes with the range's longer 20 year manufacturer's warranty. The hard wax oil is maintained locally; the board is tongue and groove, micro-bevelled, and listed as compatible with underfloor heating. A box covers 1.805 square metres.

It is the board for a period house that will be kept, a hallway that takes a family's traffic, or a room where the floor is expected to be refinished more than once. Its pair is the Victorian Antique Smoky Oak in the same 20 mm format; the same colour at 14 mm is the Victorian Antique Distressed and Light Brown boards.

Questions about this floor

Can Victorian Antique Dark Oak Flooring 20 x 190 x 1900 be used with underfloor heating?
Yes — the specification for this floor records underfloor heating as Compatible. Check the maximum surface temperature your system runs at before ordering, and follow the manufacturer's commissioning sequence for the first heating cycle.
What size are the boards?
Each board or tile measures 20mm x 190mm x 1900mm. The edge detail is Micro-bevelled, which is what you see where two boards meet. Measure the room and add a waste allowance before ordering — your fitter will give you the figure for your room shape.
How long will the surface last?
The wear layer on this floor is 6mm. On a timber floor that figure decides how many times it can be sanded back and refinished; on a vinyl floor it is the clear film over the printed design and decides how long the pattern survives traffic. It is the number worth comparing between ranges.
How much does one box cover?
One box covers 1.805 Square Metres. Work out your room area first, then add the waste allowance, and order in whole boxes — a part box cannot be ordered and a short delivery stops a fit.
What warranty does it carry?
This floor carries a 20 Years. A warranty rests on the floor being laid and looked after as the manufacturer specifies, so keep the fitting notes and the subfloor readings with your paperwork.
Can I see it before I order?
Order a cut sample for £1.99 and look at it in the room it is for, at the hour you actually use that room. Grain and tone shift under artificial light, and no photograph carries that.
