Western Villages and Silverlea at Granton are the city’s new screed with underfloor heating, where the engineered range is listed as compatible with the heating and a solid board is not. In the Old Town, Leith and Inverleith conservation areas, and in any listed tenement, the original boarding is protected; a floor laid over it keeps it in place and keeps the consent question closed. The wear layer on top is oak enough to sand back once.
