Windsor Solid Dark Oak is the darkest of the Windsor planks: 18 mm of solid European oak, 150 mm wide in random lengths, Rustic grade, brushed and matt lacquered. A dark solid plank at 150 mm gives a room an anchor that pale schemes often lack, and the Rustic grade keeps enough variation in the surface to stop the colour reading as flat.

The brushed, matt lacquered surface answers a dark floor's two habits: the texture breaks up the pale lines that dust and fine scratches make, and the matt film avoids the sheen that shows them. The lacquer wipes clean and is refinished as a whole floor, which solid oak allows many times. Dry subfloor and acclimatisation before laying. Tongue and groove, micro-bevelled, not listed as compatible with underfloor heating; a box covers 1.44 square metres, and the manufacturer's warranty is 20 years.
