Brushed oak blocks for Victorian rooms, and listed ones

11.8% of Leeds dwellings were built before 1900, below the 15.5% for England and Wales. In a Victorian room a smooth, flat oak surface can look too new against old plaster and joinery. Most of the oak herringbone blocks in the range are brushed, and brushed oak suits period houses and any room where a flat finish would jar.

For them the range has a second kind of herringbone: rigid vinyl blocks, listed with their underlay backing already attached and laid as a floating floor on a click joint. Nothing is glued to the slab, and the backing on the datasheet is the underlay.

The lease comes before either. Flats were 17.0% of residential sales in Leeds in 2025, against 16.3% for England and Wales, and leases of flats commonly carry a covenant about floor coverings, often asking for carpet or for the freeholder's consent to a hard floor.
